📱 Getting Started

  1. Download StepSync from the App Store
  2. Sign in with your Apple ID
  3. Tap "Continue" to connect Apple Health
  4. Your steps and workouts sync automatically
  5. Check the Dashboard to see today's activity

🏆 Creating a Tournament

  1. Go to the Tournaments tab
  2. Tap "Create Tournament"
  3. Set a name, start date, and end date
  4. Choose Individual or Team mode
  5. Share the invite code with friends
  6. Everyone's steps count automatically each day

⚔️ Starting a Duel

  1. Go to the Duels tab
  2. Tap "New Duel"
  3. Choose a duration: 24 hours, 3 days, or 7 days
  4. Select your opponent from the user list
  5. Tap "Send Challenge"
  6. Once accepted, both players' steps are tracked in real time

🔄 Understanding Step Equivalency

  • Why? A cyclist riding 30 minutes works just as hard as someone walking — but gets zero steps on their pedometer
  • How? We use actual calories burned from your Apple Watch, adjusted for your body weight
  • Fallbacks: If no calorie data exists, we use heart rate, then MET values, then distance
  • Fair play: A 25,000 step daily cap prevents gaming the system

  2. Tap "Create Squad"
  3. Name your squad and invite members
  4. See a private leaderboard for your group

  2. Tap the map icon to see your GPS route
  3. Tap "Share" to create a card
  4. Choose Instagram Reel, Story, Post, or Message

Everything you need to know about StepSync.

StepSync uses a 4-tier system: first, it checks actual calories burned from your Apple Watch. If unavailable, it uses heart rate data to estimate calories. Next, it falls back to MET values. Finally, if no data exists, it uses distance or time. Your body weight is factored in to keep things fair.

Not necessarily — and that's the point. StepSync converts based on effort, not distance. The conversion reflects actual calorie expenditure, so every workout is credited fairly.

No. StepSync works with just your iPhone. However, an Apple Watch adds heart rate data and workout-specific calories, which makes the conversion much more accurate.

Yes. Your Apple Health data stays on your device and is only read by StepSync to calculate equivalent steps. You can delete your account and all data at any time from Settings.

Not yet — StepSync is currently iOS only. An Android version is on our roadmap.

StepSync has anti-cheat measures built in. There's a 25,000 equivalent step daily cap enforced at the database level. We're continuously improving detection.
