1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using StepSync ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

StepSync is a fitness tracking and competition application that syncs with Apple Health to track your physical activities, converts various exercises into equivalent steps using science-based calculations, and enables friendly competition through leaderboards and tournaments.

3. Account Registration

To use StepSync, you must create an account using either an email address and password or Sign in with Apple. You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
• All activities that occur under your account
• Providing accurate and current information
• Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account

4. Subscriptions and Payments

Payment and Billing

• Payment will be charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
• Subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
• Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the same price.
• You can manage and cancel your subscriptions by going to your Account Settings on the App Store after purchase.

Free Trial

If offered, any unused portion of a free trial period will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription.

Free Tier

StepSync offers a free tier that includes Apple Health sync, daily leaderboard access, one tournament, up to 3 manual activities per day, and basic achievement badges. No payment is required to use the free tier.

Pro Features

StepSync Pro unlocks additional features including unlimited tournaments, all 20+ achievement badges, head-to-head duels, unlimited manual activity logging, heart rate trend analytics, and advanced statistics.

5. User Conduct

You agree not to:

• Use the App for any unlawful purpose
• Manipulate or falsify activity data, step counts, or leaderboard standings
• Harass, abuse, or harm other users through tournament chat or any other feature
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the App's systems or other users' accounts
• Use automated systems, bots, or scripts to interact with the App
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the App

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

6. Health Data and Apple HealthKit

StepSync integrates with Apple HealthKit to provide its core functionality. By granting HealthKit access, you acknowledge that:

• Health data is used solely to provide App features as described in our Privacy Policy
• Health data is never used for advertising or marketing purposes
• Health data is never sold to third parties
• You can revoke HealthKit access at any time through iOS Settings

7. Tournaments and Competitions

StepSync enables users to create and participate in step-counting tournaments. By participating in tournaments, you agree that:

• Leaderboard standings are calculated based on equivalent steps using our conversion algorithms
• We reserve the right to modify conversion algorithms to maintain fairness
• Tournament results are for entertainment and personal motivation purposes only
• We are not responsible for disputes between tournament participants

8. Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, features, code, content, and branding, is owned by StepSync and protected by intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

StepSync is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that:

• The App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
• Step equivalency calculations are medically accurate or suitable for clinical use
• Health data synced from Apple Health will always be accurate or complete
• The App will meet your specific fitness goals or requirements

StepSync is not a medical device and should not be used as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, StepSync and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to:

• Loss of data or activity records
• Physical injury resulting from exercise activities
• Inaccuracies in step equivalency calculations
• Service interruptions or data loss

11. Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from the App's Settings screen. Upon deletion:

• All your personal data, activity history, and achievements will be permanently deleted within 30 days
• Your active subscription (if any) will not be automatically cancelled — you must cancel it separately through your Apple ID settings
• This action cannot be undone

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting a notice within the App. Your continued use of StepSync after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Quebec, Canada, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
